Upgrade components

Each glyph comes with a range of values that it could improve a stat by in the form of an item when you open the glyph in the Glyph Storage or when you use it to enchant an Artifact. This isn't the actual amount at which glyphs can improve a stat, but the maximum amount by which it can do so. The value of the glyph depends on the tier and quality of the item you are in awe of.

The majority of upgrade components added to items cannot be removed or replaced without removing them except for legendary equipment and upgrades. If you do have a rune or glyph that hasn't yet been added to your gear, you can move it to another piece of equipment by utilizing the Upgrade Glyphs context menu on the Glyphs panel. This will create the new Glyph Set with the selected glyph.

You can take out the glyph using a Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. This will cause the item to be destroyed in which it is installed, but you can recover the upgraded item by using the glyph and its shards therefore, it shouldn't be considered as a loss.
